Accessibility Modifications

Certain types of home improvement projects come about as a matter of necessity. There may come a time when, for whatever reason, physical challenges make certain aspects of one's home or office inaccessible. This does not have to be, however. Around Your House specializes in remodeling projects aimed specifically at making structures more accessible to those of our neighbors who face physical challenges, be it a matter of injury or of age. Everyone has the right to feel comfortable in their own home. Whether the situation requires the construction of an access ramp, the installation of safety grab bars, or the widening of doors and hallways, we're here to help.

If you require complete renovations to make all aspects of your home accessible, we are also available for consultations to help you plan the project, covering the full interior and exterior of the home.

Everyone deserves to be able to come home without worrying about how to get in the door.

Picture Galleries

Here are some picture galleries showing related projects that we've completed from start to finish. Why not take a minute to browse and have a look?

A New Ramp In Tight Quarters

Access ramps to the front door don't always work out well, and when the only other door to the house leads to a driveway, one might think it's a problem, but wait until you see how we've made that into a convenience.

A Porch To Ramp Conversion

A porch out front used to work just fine, but the homeowner's accessibility needs now demand a ramp. Here's how we make the change.

See works in progress.

Avoiding The "Peter Pan" Mindset

Bath Accessibility Issues: Two Reports

Here are two short articles that discuss accessibility issues with regard to the smallest room in the house.

Landscaping With Limited Mobility In Mind

Access modifications don't need to stop once the ramp is built and the interior has been taken care of; there's the exterior landscape to consider, too.

Overcoming Obstacles For The Physically Challenged

When faced with physical challenges and disabilities, home can feel like an unwelcome place, until the obstacles are removed.

Panic And Mobility Awareness

The new realities that come with physical challenges can be a shock; however, panic isn't the answer when looking to remodel your home for accessibility.

Safety Grab Bars: Not Just A Steel Pipe

Just because accessibility concerns demand the installation of safety grab bars, that doesn't mean you're stuck with unsightly silver pipes.

Skimping On Ramp Construction: An Unsafe Investment

You're having the ramp built to allow for safe access to your home; don't make matters worse instead by having it built unsafely.

What To Expect From Your Alterations Contractor

When you need access modifications done to your home, make sure you have the right firm for the job.
