Picture Gallery: A Laundry Area Renovation
Part One [ 1 - 2 - 3 ]

Where We Begin.

We begin with a cluttered laundry corner that is in major need of help. The electrical conduit to the dryer is tied with string, there's little room to work in the small space, the wall is damaged, and the floor is mismatched. The taped-up dryer vent is over 20 feet in length (making it essentially useless). You can also see that between the appliances, dryer vent, and a laundry rack, access to the home's breaker box is completely obstructed.

Laundry Conversion Step 1.

Hanging Out.

Here along with another view of the overlong dryer vent, you can see that plumbing lines are exposed and hanging below the damaged ceiling, and that wires dangle amidst the pipes.

Laundry Conversion Step 2.

Unproductive Space.

To the left of the laundry corner is an unused, makeshift roll-in shower, taking up space between the tub partition and a storage area that could easily be put to better use.

Laundry Conversion Step 3.

The Dark Corner.

Here is a view of the laundry area's mismatched flooring. This corner cabinet will be updated for use in the newly renovated space, where it will be given a new countertop.

Laundry Conversion Step 4.

Getting Started.

We begin work by removing the partition walls from either side of the laundry tub. The old flooring is also being removed. As the laundry tub itself is in good working order, it will be salvaged to service the newly renovated laundry when we're done.

Laundry Conversion Step 5.
