In this project, we will be completely renovating an older, out-of-date kitchen, literally from wall to wall and from floor to ceiling, leaving no covering or fixture untouched. Even most of the appliances will be taken care of while we're here; that countertop range, for instance.

Once items have been cleared from the counter, one can get a better view of just what's there. Typical of the time when this kitchen was originally put together, the cabinets are all finished with a very, very dark stain that tends to swallow all of the light from the room. The sink has an older style faucet that isn't really very versatile and begs for heavy reliance on the spray nozzle when it's time to do the dishes; this will also be taken care of.

That microwave is taking up a huge amount of space, rendering that area of the counter completely useless; this is another thing to be taken care of. The dark grain of the cabinets also extends to the doors, swallowing up even more light. These doors will also be replaced to go with our new woodwork. Here one can also see the very dark and very dated old flooring, which - surprise - is also being replaced. One thing is for certain; when we're done here, this room will certainly be a lot brighter!

Here we can get a better view of the old wallpaper, which has faded with age and also begun to wear. The old style stove built into the cabinet system has also seen its day come and go; this will be replaced with a new, more efficient unit. The in-wall cupboard will also be replaced to match with the new decor.

But wait, there's also the ceiling, where we find a somewhat dated fixture that isn't providing much light and which doesn't do anything to help improve the circulation of the place. Therefore, we won't just be replacing this with another light; rather, we'll be going one better.
